Who We Are?

The Southern Communities Council (SCC) is a committed platform for advocacy, networking, and support, serving communities from the Global South. As a pluralist organisation, SCC is unique among Australian organisations, with a Board that includes respected local Aboriginal Elders. SCC’s mission is rooted in addressing the historical impacts of colonisation, which weakened public infrastructures and restricted access to resources for these communities, and the 1960s policies that limited our representation in governance. Despite diverse backgrounds, SCC members are united by a shared commitment to ecological stewardship, community strength, and peace.
